For the sixth year in a row, the Manitoba Electric Vehicle Association (MEVA) kicked off National Drive Electric Week, with the best electric vehicle festival on the prairies, MEVAfest! Saturday, September 10th, dozens of 2, 3, and 4-wheeled electric vehicles, the New Flyer Xcelsior electric bus, an electric motorboat, the UMSAE Formula Electric race car, an electric skateboard and other exciting EVs were on display in front of the Manitoba Legislative Building.
Over a thousand festival goers marvelled at many vehicles which Manitobans have converted from gas to electric power like Bruce Little’s ELECTRUC. This electric pickup truck won the award for the most “Outstanding Engineered” vehicle at the 2016 World of Wheels Autorama! Also, it was featured in the movie DRIVE FOR FREE 2 – The Revolution Continues.
débuted the largest plugin hybrid-electric “cherry-picker” in Canada!
Vickar Auto Group and Midtown Ford partnered with individual MEVA members and MEVA corporate members, Peg City Car Co-op, First Nation Auto Inc and Nott Autocorp, to display factory-made plugin vehicles like the Tesla model S, BMWi3, Nissan LEAF, Mitsubishi iMiEV, Chevy Volt, Ford C-Max and many more. Best of all, visitors enjoyed free rides in some of their favourites.
MEVAfest 2016 was one of several great events at Winnipeg’s largest street festival, Manyfest
If you missed out on the fun this year, be sure to be there next September, at MEVAfest 2017. See you on Broadway!
