Manitoba Electric Vehicle Association

MEVA 2013 Annual General Meeting

MEVA will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, November 28th, 2013 at 6 PM.

Great Guest Speakers:

1: Robert V. Parsons and Jairo Viafara will present their recent study: Consumer Attitudes About Electric Cars: Pricing Analysis And Policy Implications, which was first presented at the annual Canadian electric vehicle conference in October. This paper has some very intriguing conclusions, and is something that anyone who is interested in promoting electric vehicles to the general public should see.

2: The other guest speaker will be Dale Friesen, Division Manager, Industrial and Commercial Solutions for Manitoba Hydro. Mr. Friesen will talk about the New Flyer/Mitsubishi electric bus that a number of MEVA members are familiar with. Mr. Friesen spoke about the electric bus at the annual Electric Vehicle Summit in Toronto earlier this year.

The Hilton:

This year, MEVA will hold the AGM at The Hilton, which is the first hotel in Winnipeg to have a public electric vehicle charger. The Hilton has been very gracious and has put together special arrangements for our meeting. Their chefs have prepared a really delicious meal for us. Please RSVP, so the hotel will have a realistic count of how many will be coming.

MEVA Elections:

The main business at the AGM will be to elect MEVA’s executive for 2014. If you are a MEVA member, and would like to run for a position, now is your chance to put your name forward. Your vote only counts at this meeting, so please come out to vote!

See you then!

Time:   Thursday, November 28th, 6 pm
Place: The Hilton, 1800 Wellington Avenue (near the Airport, at King Edward)

Update:

The executive for 2014 was elected at the AGM.  The results were:

Robert Elms, President (former Member At Large)
Rodger Lepinsky, Vice President (former Secretary)
Ross Redman, Secretary (new)
Willard Elliott, Treasurer  (re-elected)
Robert Yonza, Member At Large (new)

Interestingly, all the 2014 executive, except for Willard, have first names that start with “R”.

Congratulations to everyone on the Executive Committee and good luck in your next term!
